Welcome page

Welcome to the site Research as Pedagogy! This site is affiliated with the workshop Solving supervisory challenges together which I delivered at the Advance HE symposium Closing the attainment gap: Student Success for All  on 23 May 2018.

The content reflects the pedagogical perspective that the design of short-term student research opportunities should be recognized by supervisors as an opportunity to create high quality learning experiences for the student irrespective of whether or not a) the learner has aspirations for a career in research or b) is committed to the supervisor’s personal research agenda. The mission of the site is to support this perspective by the provision of recommendations and exemplars for good practise.

While this content includes examples from my personal research initiatives, this site is designed to encourage collaboration on an international scale.

If you would like to contribute to the site based on existing work or would like to discuss ideas for future pedagogical research of relevance to the mission of this site, please contact me at Margaret.MacDougall@ed.ac.uk.
