Data privacy
The University of Edinburgh is committed to protecting your privacy and keeping you informed of how your information is used. We will only record your personal details in the manner and for the purposes set out in this privacy statement. Data will be kept secure from unauthorised access, use or disclosure. We will not sell, rent, trade or otherwise knowingly share or provide your personal information to any third party, except insofar as legally obliged to do so or as specified below.

What information do we collect?
Research as Pedagogy will keep a log of email addresses and page acesss statistics for all users in addition to any profile details, including personal names of users, photos and avatars, which users have provided at their own discretion.

Why we need user data
The user data are funadamental to ensuring the security maintenance of the site through monitoring of any attempts to hack the site. They are also essential in tracking user preferences in accessing the site pages and correspondingly  in generating summary statistics for reporting the success of student learning initiatives.

How do we use this information?
These data may be used to inform the design of the site Research as Pedagogy, and in anonymised form, to report on usage statistics and student learning through publications and conferences and within discussions. These activities extend to research on student learning and activities on an international scale.

In using the WordPress site Research as Pedagogy, you consent to your data being used in this way.

How long will we keep your personal data?
Whenever the site author (Margaret MacDougall) extracts your personal data from the analytics stored on this site, they will anonymize it for the purpose of analysis and reporting and for sharing with others. The site author will store the extracted data only for as long as is necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.

Storage and transmission of your information
Security measures are in place to protect your information from access by unauthorised persons and against unlawful processing.

However, transmission of information via the Internet is not completely secure. Any transmission is at your own risk.

Passwords and credentials
Where you have been allocated (or where you have chosen) a password which enables you to access all or certain parts of Research as Pedagogy, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share a password with anyone.

Access, update, unsubscribe or have your information deleted
